I hear Microsoft might be bringing back the People app for Windows. Have you ever used it?
The People app was first introduced in Windows 8, with the aim of keeping your contacts organized in one easy-to-access place.
It was a little like a digital address book, letting you store your contacts’ Outlook and Skype details, as well as their Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media accounts. It also acted like a news feed, showing you their updates, tweets, and posts in one spot.
It was a handy way to stay connected without bouncing between platforms. But over time, the People app lost a lot of its social network integration and could only connect with Skype.
Eventually, it became harder to access, being hidden away in other apps like Mail and Calendar. But now it looks like Microsoft might be breathing new life into it.
A leaked setup file shows a new version of the People app – light and easy to install – available to Microsoft business account holders. According to the leak, you’d be able to access it directly from the Start menu and pin it to your Taskbar, putting communication at your fingertips.
If Microsoft rolls it out, the People app for Windows 11 could make it much easier to manage your business contacts.
Would you and your team welcome its return?
